Using SharePoint Offline with SharePoint Workspace – Part 2
In Using SharePoint Offline Part I we looked at the SharePoint Workspace configuration tool, the installation and the available settings to be configured. Now actually use the offline features of SharePoint 2010 with SharePoint Workspace 2010.
There are two ways to synchronize SharePoint content with your local offline store -
Synchronizing SharePoint Site content using the SharePoint Workspace Launchbar
The first approach is using the SharePoint Workspace 2010 tool to synchronize the content.
Open the SharePoint Workspace Launchbar from the File tab, choose “New” and select SharePoint Workspace.

Next, type in the SharePoint site URL in the below screen. I will use http://sps2010 as an example, which is my local SharePoint Server 2010 with a sample document library.

Sync to SharePoint in Workspace 2010
After clicking OK, you will likely have to specify the username and password for the SharePoint site. Type in the credentials and click OK.
Once you enter the site URL and credentials correctly, you will see the Sync to SharePoint Workspace screen with the current synchronization status.

When the tool completes the synchronization and you don’t encounter any errors in the process, you can go to the synchronized workspace using “Open Workspace” button (which will become active when synchronization is complete). Oopen the SharePoint Workspace environment with the currently synchronized SharePoint Server 2010 content. In the below example, you can see that the tool uploaded my sample site with the custom document library which I named “My Documents”. For this demonstration I uploaded four different documents.

We will look at the Workspace later, but for now to go back to the start, close the Workspace and open the SharePoint Document Library from the browser.

Now, click on the Library tab in the Library Tools section in the site ribbon.
